We believe everyone should be able to find out who owns the products they buy. Scan Owner is designed with accessibility in mind, and we are committed to making the app usable for as many people as possible.
Screen reader support
VoiceOver (iOS) & TalkBack (Android)
All interactive elements — buttons, search fields, result cards, and navigation — include accessibility labels and roles. The app is fully navigable using VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android.
Text and display
Dynamic Type support
Scan Owner respects your device's text size settings. If you increase the font size in your system settings, the app adjusts accordingly.
Dark mode
The app supports both light and dark mode, automatically following your system preference. You can also set it manually in the app's settings. Dark mode reduces eye strain and improves readability in low-light environments.
Visual design
Color blind support
We use icons and symbols in addition to colors to convey information. Important indicators like focus country alerts, brand confidence levels, and scan results never rely on color alone.
Sufficient contrast
Text and interactive elements are designed with sufficient color contrast ratios to meet WCAG 2.1 guidelines in both light and dark themes.
Touch and interaction
Large touch targets
All buttons and interactive areas are at least 44×44 points, meeting Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for minimum tap target size. This makes the app easier to use for people with motor impairments.
Multiple input methods
Products can be identified in three ways: text search, barcode scanning, and image capture. If one method is difficult to use, the others provide alternative ways to access the same information.
Search and results
Autocomplete
The search field offers autocomplete suggestions, reducing the need for precise typing. Results are presented in a clear, structured format with brand name, company, and country of origin.
Offline access
Previously scanned products are cached locally, allowing users to access results without an internet connection. This benefits users in areas with poor connectivity.
Language support
Scan Owner is available in 10 languages: Danish, English, German, Spanish, French, Norwegian, Portuguese, Finnish, Swedish, and Kalaallisut (Greenlandic). The app follows your device's language setting automatically.
